Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp

Technology and Innovation Center

The new Technology and Innovation Center provides space for adult education and continuing education for EVSC staff. The classrooms are set up so the corporation can teach advanced technological applications to their faculty and staff. The building also consolidates the Office of Technology staff, previously located in multiple buildings, into one location. This move allowed staff to work more efficiently and aided in reducing operational costs.

Since many of the employees were previously located in the lower level with no windows and an uninspiring work environment, it was their desire to create a bright and open workspace filled with color and sunlight. These changes would improve the office culture and employee morale. Inspired by the employee’s wishes, the interior boasts an array of cheerful colors. Regardless of where an employee’s workstation is located within the building, they have visible access to exterior views through either windows or glass walls.

The Technology and Innovation Center was the first building for EVSC to reach LEED Certification. The sustainable features include exterior aluminum sunshades, occupancy sensors, a reflective roof, efficient insulated windows, spray icynene insulation, an energy recovery ventilator, and geothermal wells. The building’s efficient use of energy and building technologies presents to the community a school corporation looking towards new technologies and construction methods to be cost effective stewards of tax payer’s money. The Technology and Innovation Center also represents a new level of care towards corporate employees and provides them with a healthy, vibrant, and caring environment to do their work.
