Deaconess Gateway Hospital
Infusion Center
Due to expansion on its growing medical campus, Deaconess Gateway relocated its Infusion Center to previously unfinished third-floor shell space within the GI Specialty Center, also designed by Hafer. The new Infusion Center prioritizes patient comfort, enhances operational efficiency and reflects Deaconess' mission to provide high-quality healthcare with a compassionate spirit. A key feature of the project is the Tri-State's first dedicated Pediatric Infusion Center, providing children and their families with a welcoming, age-appropriate environment for infusion therapy.
Patients entering the Infusion Center are welcomed into a comfortable reception and waiting area before entering the treatment space. The adult infusion area includes 33 open infusion bays, six private infusion rooms and two quick-serve infusion stations for shorter treatments. A centrally located nurse station provides clear sightlines throughout the treatment area, supporting efficient care and communication.
The Pediatric Infusion Center features two private infusion rooms, a three-chair group infusion room, nurse station and engaging amenities, including custom casework, colorful graphics, interactive gaming and entertainment, that help reduce anxiety while creating a more positive treatment experience.
The Infusion Center also includes a full-service pharmacy with hazardous and non-hazardous compounding rooms, dedicated storage, gowning space, offices and other support areas that streamline workflow and support high-quality patient care.
By combining operational efficiency with patient-centered design, the new Infusion Center expands access to specialized infusion services while creating compassionate, healing environments for adults and children throughout the region.
