Freedom Heritage Museum

Freedom Heritage Museum’s mission is to collect, preserve, and make accessible the objects produced and the personal accounts of Evansville’s home front and veteran heroes of WWII. This is important so that future generations become educated about their efforts so we can honor them for protecting the freedoms we have today. The museum will feature live demonstrations of historic airplanes and military vehicles, as well as a Wall of Local Heroes displaying personal accounts of local veterans such as photographs, diaries and letters.

The museum will consist of offices, a library, exhibit spaces, and a learning center where children and adults alike will have a hands-on experience with WWII production equipment and two flight simulators to experience flying a P-47 fighter plane. A 12,000 sf hangar, one of the main attractions, is a large, flexible space where additional military airplanes and vehicles can be brought in for special occasions. A Quonset Hut also serves as an intimate theatre for educational experiences.

This museum is currently in the fundraising stage and is quickly gathering excitement among members of the community.
