Working with Rundell Ernstberger Associates, a master plan was produced for the imaginative and exciting Roberts Park. This new park transforms the site of an old stadium into a destination urban park that provides a broad diversity of recreational activities. It will blend together multiple parks, open spaces and greenways into a vibrant environment for the local community to enjoy. In fact, the total consolidation of the surrounding parks and addition of Roberts Park will be 653 acres which is about 3/4 of the size of New York City’s Central Park, just to compare.
The vision was developed from a series of public meetings and research. The overall concept strengthens important community attractions such as Swonder Ice Arena and Hartke Pool which will now connect them to complimentary park amenities including a Skate Park, contemporary Play Areas, Spray Pads and a Great Lawn with a Performance Pavilion. The design will emphasize wellness and healthy activity through traditional recreational features and will include multi-modal trails for biking, skating, walking or jogging.
