Human Resources Generalist / Manager

Summary:
The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of a Human Resources (HR) department including providing thoughtful advice and leadership in the areas of employee relations, recruiting, performance management, training and development, while implementing firm-wide HR projects, processes, policies and procedures supporting the vision and values of Hafer. Collaboration with internal teams, building culture, and developing and sustaining internal relationships are key elements to the success of this position. This position interacts with leadership, marketing and project staff (designers, architects, engineers).

Key areas of responsibility:
• Provide support and consulting in all human resource functions
• Plan and oversee employee benefit programs
• Conduct recruitment strategies to find talent
• Assist with hiring, onboarding and retaining the best staff
• Act as trusted advisor providing advice and counsel on employee relations matters
• Perform employee relations activities to promote increased communication, conflict resolution, and employee recognition programs
• Initiate and participate in staff development, including coaching, performance evaluations, and career path
• Develop, write, and update job descriptions for job postings
• Collaborate on the development of onboarding procedures and content and conduct in-office new employee orientation
• Develop HR department goals, objectives and systems
• Recommend and implement new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the HR department and performed services
• Ensure policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations
• Keep abreast of current trends and developments in human resources
• Plan and participate in company event planning and social activities
• Become familiar with employee payroll system
• Maintain and update the employee manual in consultation with firm management
• Assist with duties relative to office management as needed

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or other related field or equivalent
• 2-3 years minimum experience in Human Resources
• Expert knowledge in Indiana and Kentucky employment law
• SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred
• Professional services firm experience a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products – Word and Excel
