Hafer, Wesselman Woods Treehouse Earn State Recognition for Innovative Park & Recreation Design

Hafer’s creative design work for the Wesselman Woods Arwood Family Treehouse has been honored by the Indiana Park & Recreation Association’s Awards of Excellence.

The winner of the Built Works Design Award - Under $2 Million, the Arwood Family Treehouse was chosen for its creative use of materials and construction techniques, sustainability and ecological sensitivity, inclusive and accessible design, and its responsiveness to a specific community need.

The Treehouse is a magical mixture of rock walls, rope bridges, climbing nets and 140 feet of ADA-accessible ramps—a place where everyone can explore and play in their own way. Built using exclusively natural materials, the treehouse blends seamlessly into the surrounding old-growth forest. Invasive plant species were removed from the site and other native trees were relocated to maintain the harmony of the area. The treehouse is a universal place within the community that supports all generations, making playtime more accessible for both kids and the young at heart. It has already become a treasured piece of the community.

Congratulations to our client, Wesselman Woods, and the rest of the Hafer team on this recognition for their impactful, community-centered park & recreation work.
