Center for Applied Business Technologies

Students need more than just the classroom, and the University of Southern Indiana plans to bring them just that. They understand that to truly teach and learn, faculty and students need spaces to collaborate, innovate and engage with the technologies that businesses are using today to operate and create new value. To go beyond the classroom, USI is offering real data technologies in the proposed Center for Applied Business Technologies to better the education of their own and prospective students.

The center will be located on the main floor of the Business and Engineering Center, next to the main entrance. The Center will include a series of labs and hubs offering students hands-on experience to these new technologies, including the following:

  • AI Café - an open-access area providing access to the most current AI tools.
  • Flex Lab - a technology-rich space that ignites creativity, opportunity and solutions. There are 5 hubs within the Flex Lab including the Artificial Intelligence Hub, Behavioral Health Hub, Natural Language Processing Hub, Accounting and Finance Hub, Analytics and Communication Hub.
  • Textual Analytics and Publishing Lab (TAP Lab) – A lab to analyze sentiment, emotion, concordance and thematic connections of text data.
  • Biometrix Discovery Lab – The place to discover the cutting-edge technology of screen-based and mobile eye-tracking, facial expression analysis, voice analysis, and emotion arousal analytics.
  • Innovative Learning Space – Featuring smart glass, this reimagined classroom space that offers flexibility for different learning groups and access to these new technologies.

With these tools, students will be able to analyze and comprehend customer buying behavior, make more informed business decisions, and gain practical insights to market dynamics. The Center will empower students and boost regional economic growth through a stronger, better-qualified workforce.
