Evansville Regional Airport

Expansion and Renovation

The Evansville Regional Airport is the gateway to Southwest Indiana and is often the first impression many visitors have when coming to the area. Originally constructed 30 years ago, very few changes have been made to the airport so the airport hired Hafer, along with CHA Consulting, to modernize the facility. The project will take place over three different phases and is expected to be complete in November 2018.

The first phase of the project consists of building an addition to the terminal containing the administrative offices. Moving the offices will create more space for amenities in the concourse. Improving the site will be the second phase of the project which includes the addition of canopies across the main terminal drive, a taxi pick-up lane, a covered walkway to the car rental lot and new entrance signage and lighting. Additionally, a new colorful lawn with beautiful landscaping will greet passengers upon arrival to the airport.

The third, and largest, phase of this project is the terminal renovation. With a new full body scanner, TSA will be moved to a centralized location. A new restaurant and bar will be located past the security checkpoint, along with a kids play area, two nursing rooms, a large Wi-Fi lounge, service animal relief room, and large family restrooms. The existing skylight is being replaced with a new configuration that will bring in more natural daylight. Airline ticketing and car rental desks are being remodeled, as well as the guest services / information center. And lastly, the interior concourse will receive upgraded finishes throughout.

Once complete, the airport will operate more efficiently and will undoubtedly provide an impressive front door to the community.
