The Women's Hospital

Antepartum Suite Addition

The Women’s Hospital is expanding its presence on the Deaconess Gateway Campus with a new antepartum suite addition, intended for patients with high-risk pregnancies who may need an extended stay. Designed with both comfort and care in mind, the six private suites maintain the familiar footprint of existing rooms while introducing higher-end finishes and amenities. Clinical elements such as medical gases and outlets are discreetly tucked away, allowing each room to feel warm, restorative and almost hotel-like, all while providing the highest standard of medical care.

Each suite is filled with thoughtful touches to make extended stays more comfortable such as a wardrobe, refrigerator, couch, table and chairs, and a spa-like bathroom. Generous light pours in through large windows and an abstract, floral-inspired graphic on each footwall brings a sense of calm and beauty to the space. Beyond the patient rooms, the addition offers a shared washer and dryer, a community room, and a nurse work area to support both patients and families throughout their stay.

The design team carefully integrated the new addition into the existing campus while preserving parking and pedestrian flow. The exterior is a seamless extension of the hospital, with matching custom glazing and stonework.

Together, these elements transform the addition into a place where antepartum patients can experience exceptional care with some comforts of home.
