Evansville Water & Sewer Utility

East Waste Water Plant Admin Building

Evansville Water and Sewer Utility (EWSU) is in the process of several infrastructure and systems improvements projects which presented the opportunity to build a new administration building. With the new building, EWSU desired to create an inspiring workplace for its employees where they looked forward to coming to work each day. The building contains a mix of offices, meeting rooms, and break-out spaces.

With several buildings already on the EWSU site, it was important that this building blended aesthetically with the current buildings. Cues were taken from the industrial nature of those buildings to create a contemporary industrial design mixing brick, glass and limestone. Located in the rear of the building are two ninety-foot-long BAF tanks. They are enclosed with form lined concrete walls and have a beautiful 3-dimensional mural depicting the shape of the Ohio River and how it relates to the overall ecology of the river.

EWSU plans to invite the public into the building so they can learn firsthand about their processes and mission to deliver high quality water to the community. Visitors will be able to peer into the BAF room to see the operations from a glass gallery.

The project is currently under construction and is expected to open in 2021.
