City of Henderson, KY

2nd Street Lighting

New, antique light posts were installed along 2nd Street to create a more aesthetic gateway into downtown Henderson.  The lights were spaced approximately 150 feet apart in an offset pattern along either side of the road to evenly distribute light.  With residential homes on the street, it was important to consider the light output, distribution and location to not disrupt someone's home at night with excessive light.

In order to keep maintenance costs down and energy efficiency high, LED lights were chosen due to their long life span.  The color index also appears as a brighter white instead of the typical yellow or amber glow that you would see from past street lighting.

After installation, the lights have brightened this major thoroughfare into downtown while providing a charming character and inviting atmosphere to visitors and passersby.  Illuminating the streets has also contributed to creating a safer street for community residents.
