Cosmetology Lab Renovation
The EVSC's Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center advances career development in Southwest Indiana by giving high school students the opportunity to pursue pathways that prepare them for both college and the workforce. The school is launching a highly anticipated cosmetology program aimed at training the next generation of hairdressers, stylists, and barbers. Participants will gain hands-on experience and accumulate hours toward their professional licensure, equipping them for success after graduation.
This renovation will transform an existing space into a professional, industry-standard salon that will serve both students and, once students are qualified, members of the public. A dedicated reception area will provide controlled public access, while maintaining secure school-only entry for added peace of mind.
Design plans for the salon promote functionality, visibility and comfort. Double-sided styling stations with mirrors and acrylic shelving provide generous storage. Barber stations line the walls, while shampoo, drying, and manicure-pedicure stations are positioned along large windows to maximize natural light. Partial partitions subtly define the different service areas, offering a feeling of privacy without closing off the space. Two facial stations will be located in an adjoining room.
Durable herringbone-pattern flooring and linear overhead lighting provide flow and direction to the salon’s bright and sophisticated feel. Additional spaces will include a large classroom fit for mannequin practice, office space, a break room and dedicated laundry and storage areas.
This renovation strengthens career opportunities for students while supporting the region’s growing workforce needs in cosmetology.
