With imminent projected growth in Hopkinsville comes the need for relevant and responsive workforce training for the commercial and industrial sectors. The Emerging Technologies Center will serve that need with classrooms for Precision Agriculture, Database Administration, Cyber Security, Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics and several others. There will be a mix of general education classrooms and specialized laboratories including nursing simulation, sonography, technology and health science. The spaces are designed to be flexible to adapt for future fields of study as they emerge.
The new Center will also include a Board Room, meeting spaces, faculty offices, and a recreational lounge for students. The two-story building features an open, airy atrium containing a “social staircase” to be used by students or for instruction. With sustainability as a top priority, the building is being designed to achieve LEED certification.
The project is currently under construction and is expected to be complete in the Spring of 2019. The building is sure to transform the community by offering the expanded educational opportunities needed in the region.
