Children’s Museum of Evansville

The Koch Family Children’s Museum of Evansville was an adaptive re-use project. Hafer converted an existing historical building, the Downtown Central Library that was constructed in 1931, into an exquisite, vibrant environment where children and adults, alike, can let their imaginations run wild.

The museum boasts six exhibit galleries including Health and Interactive Science, How Things Work, Arts and Music, and flexible space for traveling exhibits. The other two galleries include a Water Exhibit with a play “Quack Factory” for children to operate and The Freedom Gallery which consists of a multi-media room containing a performance stage for storytellers, small musical groups and other performance artists.

*This project was a design-build team effort between Hafer, ICI/Skanska, and Professional Consultants. The exhibit designer was Roto Studio from Columbus, Ohio.
